Pharmacy shopping list — know what to buy before you run out
Running out of an important medicine at home is a common problem, especially in families with children, seniors, or people who take medicines regularly. The shopping list feature in mojApteczka helps you monitor stock levels and prepare a ready list for the pharmacy — before the last package is gone.
Why track low stock medicines?
Everyone knows the scenario: you reach for a medicine and the box is empty. A late-night pharmacy run, stress, frantically searching for a substitute. The low stock feature prevents these moments by alerting you about dwindling supplies in advance.
The shopping list is especially useful when:
- your kit contains many medicines used regularly,
- you manage medicines for a child, a senior, or a dependant through the caregiver role,
- you want to avoid running out of a medicine taken on an ongoing basis,
- you need a concrete list before visiting the pharmacy instead of guessing what to buy,
- you share a family kit and everyone should see the current shortages.
How does the shopping list work in mojApteczka?
The feature relies on a simple mechanism: for each medicine, you can set a refill threshold — the minimum number of packages below which the medicine appears on the shopping list. When stock drops below that threshold, the system marks the medicine as needing replenishment.
A typical scenario looks like this:
- add medicines to your kit manually or through AI recognition,
- set a refill threshold for medicines taken regularly,
- use dosage reminders — each dose confirmation automatically decreases the stock count,
- open the shopping list and see which medicines need replenishment,
- go to the pharmacy with a ready list — no guessing.
How to set the refill threshold
The refill threshold is the minimum number of packages below which a medicine should appear on the shopping list. You can set it individually for each medicine:
- 1 package — you will be notified when the last one remains,
- 2 packages — earlier notice, useful for ongoing prescriptions,
- 0 — the medicine will not be monitored for stock levels.
You decide which medicines need continuous monitoring. For occasional medicines you can disable the threshold, while for critical products you can set a higher margin.
A ready list for the pharmacy
The shopping list gathers all medicines that have dropped below their set threshold in one place. You do not need to browse the entire kit before heading to the pharmacy — just open the list and see exactly what to buy.
Key characteristics of the shopping list:
- a clear view of medicines to restock, showing the name and missing quantity,
- real-time updates after every dose confirmation,
- shared access for all members of the family kit,
- quick navigation to the medicine card for details.
Availability
The shopping list feature is available on all platforms — in the browser at mojapteczka.pl and in the mobile app on iOS and Android. This means you can check the list at any time — including while you are already at the pharmacy. Copy the list to clipboard and send it via text message or messenger.
How it connects with other features
The shopping list works best in combination with other mojApteczka features:
- Dosage reminders automatically decrease stock after dose confirmation,
- Expiry date alerts help remove expired medicines from the kit,
- Shared family kit lets every household member check the shopping list,
- Notes let you record preferences about specific products or substitutes.
Important limitation
The pharmacy shopping list is an organizational tool. It helps plan medicine purchases based on the state of your kit, but it does not replace pharmacist advice or a doctor's decision about continuing or changing therapy.
Important: the accuracy of the list depends on regularly updating the kit. The better you maintain your data, the more useful the shopping list becomes.
The shopping list feature in mojApteczka turns a home medicine cabinet into a smart medicine supply management system. Instead of guessing what to buy, you have a ready list — current, clear, and available on your phone.
