mojApteczka for seniors — Your medicines, your pace, your routine

You have more medicines at home than you did ten years ago. Sometimes it is hard to remember which of the blue tablets you have already taken, and which one is still waiting. Then there are drops, syrups, vitamins and herbal products. mojApteczka is a simple way to keep all of it in one place — your place — so you always know what you have, when to take it, and whether it is still within its expiry date.

An app that respects your time and your independence

Not everything on a phone is made with people your age in mind. Tiny icons, disappearing menus, ads in the middle of a page, notifications you cannot switch off. mojApteczka is different. It was designed so you do not need to learn a new language to look after your own home medicine cabinet. You swipe with your thumb, take one photo of a package, and see a calm layout with no flashing ads.

You do not need to explain why you take your medicines. You do not need to justify anything. The app simply helps you keep things organised where that gets harder every year — in a home medicine cabinet where the number of boxes keeps growing.

If you want to, you can give someone in your family (for example a daughter, son or grandchild) access to your home medicine cabinet. They will see the same list as you. Nothing more. No history of doctor visits, no medical records — only the list of medicines, so they can help if you need them to. But it is up to you whether you give them that access.

Why a medicine cabinet on your phone makes sense at your age

A notepad by the bed and a slip of paper from the pharmacy used to be enough. Today, the average home of someone in their seventies contains more than a dozen packages — some look identical, some were bought "just in case", some have been sitting there for months, and the leaflets are printed so small that you need your reading glasses just to check whether two products can be combined.

A few simple situations where a phone genuinely helps:

  • You do not remember whether you took your morning medicine. The app shows you on the first screen what is marked as "taken" and what is still waiting.
  • You buy a new product and there are already three similar ones at home. You scan the new package and immediately see: "you already have this medicine, the last box was bought in March, expires in August."
  • You are heading to a doctor's appointment. Instead of packing a bag with boxes, you take the phone or print one clear list.
  • Your child or grandchild asks what you are currently taking. One tap and you show them the exact list. No searching, no reciting from memory.

This is not an app "for the technically advanced". If you can call your family on your phone and read a message, you can use mojApteczka.

What it looks like day by day

Adding a medicine — one photo

You pick up the phone, open the app and choose "Add medicine". You take a photo of the package — the same way you take a photo of your grandchild. The app reads the name, dose and expiry date for you. You only confirm that everything looks right. No typing, no spelling out names.

A list like the note by your bed

On the screen, you see all your medicines in a simple list. Just like a piece of paper — only always up to date. Medicines are arranged so that the ones you take every day are always at the top. The occasional ones are lower down.

Reminders that will not exhaust you

The app can remind you about medicines at a chosen time. You can also turn reminders off if you prefer to rely on your own rhythm. If you have a newer iPhone, mojApteczka can show the next medicine to take directly on your home screen (as a widget). You do not need to open the app — a glance at your phone is enough.

Siri will help — if you want

If you use Siri on your phone, you can simply ask, "Hey Siri, what should I take now?". Siri passes the question to mojApteczka and reads the answer out loud. That is especially handy in the morning, with coffee, when you do not feel like looking for your glasses.

Drops, syrups, fractional doses

Sometimes your instruction is "half a tablet" or "2.5 ml of adult syrup". The app takes that into account. It does not round anything up, and it does not pretend you take the whole dose. It remembers exactly how much you actually take.

Four steps to get organised

  1. Gather your medicines in one place. The ones you take regularly plus the occasional ones from the drawer. Nothing more — you do not have to throw anything away.
  2. Scan the packages. One photo per medicine. You can do this in half an hour on a Saturday afternoon, with your favourite radio show on.
  3. Check that everything is right. The app shows you the list. If anything looks odd, you can fix it.
  4. (Optional) invite someone from your family. One tap — a child or grandchild sees the same list and can help if you ever ask.

That is all. No one tells you what to take. No one gives you medical advice. The app is an organisational tool — it shows what you have and keeps track of expiry dates. Decisions about your medicines always stay between you and your doctor or pharmacist.

Where it truly helps

A visit to a new specialist

You do not need to pack a bag full of boxes. You show the list on your phone, or you print a PDF report where everything is in one clear table — name, dose, start date, expiry date. One page instead of ten boxes.

A stay at a sanatorium or holiday

You do not need to worry that you will forget what to take. The full list is on your phone, and the app can also work without internet — basic information about your medicines is stored locally on the device.

Expiry date check

One of the most common surprises is: "but I bought it not long ago". The app keeps an eye on this for you. A few days before an expiry date, you get a gentle reminder, not an alarm after the fact. That way, there are no surprises when you reach for a medicine at an important moment.

Family asking "what are you taking now?"

Instead of reciting from memory, you send them a QR code or share the list for a short time. They do not have to install anything special — they simply see your medicines in a browser for 24 hours, and then access closes automatically.

At the pharmacy, without a long queue

At the pharmacy, you show the list on your phone. The pharmacist sees exactly what you have and can help more easily. No spelling out names, no taking boxes out in front of other people waiting.

Keeping your data safe

Information about your medicines is processed in Poland and the European Union. It is protected in line with GDPR. The app does not share your list with advertisers or pharmacies — or with anyone you have not given access to yourself. If you ever decide to stop using the app, you can delete your account and all data with one tap.

Family help, when you need it

Many people your age choose to share their home medicine cabinet with a child or grandchild. Not because they have to — because it is convenient. One invitation in the app and a family member sees the same list as you. They can help when things get harder — after an operation, after a hospital stay, or simply when you do not feel like tracking expiry dates yourself.

If someone in your family is considering this option for you, you can send them to our page for caregivers. They will find information for people who live in another city and want to support a loved one from a distance.

And if you yourself are looking after someone else (a grandchild after an illness, a neighbour after a hospital stay), you can also keep a second home medicine cabinet on your phone — next to your own.

Not a substitute for a doctor or pharmacist

mojApteczka is an informational and organisational tool. It shows you what you have, keeps track of expiry dates, and helps you prepare a list for an appointment. It does not diagnose, change doses or give medical advice. If you have any doubts about your treatment, always ask your doctor or pharmacist. They know your history and can answer questions the app cannot.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to learn a new app?

No. If you can call your family, you can use mojApteczka. The interface is simple: large buttons, a legible list of medicines, one action at a time. No ads, no complicated menus.

What if I cannot remember passwords?

You can sign in with your Google account (if you have Gmail) or enter your email address and a password — one you choose yourself. Write the password down in a notebook together with other important passwords. If you forget it, tap "reset password" and you will receive an email with a new one.

Does the app work without internet?

Basic features — viewing the list of medicines and reading saved information — work even without internet. Adding new medicines and updates require a connection. Before going somewhere without signal, it is worth opening the app over Wi-Fi first.

Will someone help me if I have a problem?

Yes. If something does not work or you are not sure how to do something, write to kontakt@mojapteczka.pl. We reply in Polish, without technical jargon.

Will the app tell me which medicine to take?

No. The app does not give medical advice and does not suggest dosage. It shows what you have in your home medicine cabinet, keeps track of expiry dates, and helps you organise the list. You make decisions about your medicines together with your doctor or pharmacist.

How much does it cost?

There is a free plan that lets you keep a home medicine cabinet with 20 medicines. That is usually enough for everyday use. If you have more, the Standard plan is 9.99 PLN/month (up to 30 medicines) and Pro is 19.99 PLN/month (up to 90 medicines). With an annual purchase, you get two months free.

Ready? You can start with three medicines

You do not have to scan the whole cabinet straight away. Take the three medicines you use most often and scan them into the app. Check whether the list works for you. If it does, add the rest whenever you feel like it. If it does not, you can delete everything with one tap, no questions asked.
